Bullying in America

When viewing the news this week a story came across that really drew my attention. The story was about a middle school cheerleader who has downs syndrome. This really caught my eye because I do not condone bullying in any way, especially when it involves people who have mental/physical disability. This story explains how 3 courageous basketball players stopped playing in the middle of their game and asked the ignorant fan who was taunting the girl to please leave the game. I highly applaud this, by doing this it shows that there are kids who are not by-standards anymore. These kids showed a lot of courage and it really showed on there character how they put something they love (basketball) aside and focused on something more important. Bullying is unacceptable and we as a society must find a way to put a stop to it.¬†Unfortunately this is something that happens a lot within America, bullying has always been an issue widely talked about around the country. There have been many movements to try and put an end to bullying i.e. school programs, PSA’s, etc. With these movements America has seen much improvement with bullying, although it still remains, at least we are trying to solve this massive problem. Bullying tkes a large toll on kids, being at such a delicate stage in their lives, bullying can make a child with great potential lose confidence in himself and find reasons to not be the person he/she is. Although bullying will always be a problem, we can never accept it, and must always put forth an effort to stop it.

Update from Ferguson

I have been able to spend some time this week and dive in to the latest “racist” reports from the belated Ferguson Trials. According to the latest reports, during all the riots, numbers show that police brutality was at an all time high. Not only was police physical brutality at an all time high, but the verbal abuse and email abuse was insane. These reports show many policeman located in the Missouri area who shared emails with one another being extremely racist towards African Americans. This definitely did not favor for the police, this made police even more hated than they already were! The police did not only make racist jokes at the African Americans located in Missouri, but they chose to attack the President and his wife as well! This was extremely unprofessional and plain stupid on the police’s part. This shows that they were truly acting upon race instead of justice, these acts alone make me not believe in the system today. Although I do agree with the ruling of Ferguson, I do not agree of how the police handled the riots that broke out in Missouri. Everything they did could have been very easily avoided, but the police knowingly chose to let race be a factor when enforcing the law. Unfortunately this shows that the people defending Ferguson were right in that the police killed him because he was black. With these latest reports, I would not be surprised at all if there were more riots to break out. Overall this was a poor show of class on the police side and it made a bad situation even worse.
